Job Description Basic Purpose

Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving the production of videos for use in employee training programs and/or to provide information to the public. This includes researching information and materials, reviewing and redacting video footage and audio recordings, providing audio and video support for agency related events and fulfilling customer requests.

Typical Functions
  • Ability to multitask and see assignments through completion.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to speak clearly, concisely, and effectively with individuals and groups.
  • Ability to read, write, follow, and interpret rules, policy, and law.
  • Ability to watch and listen to videos that may contain vulgar, violent, or graphic content.
  • Ability to concentrate and focus on dash cam footage and audio recordings.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of digital video cameras and video editing equipment, if assigned by supervisor.
  • Operate computers and relevant systems and software.
  • Able to perform video and audio red actions.
  • Perform additional tasks if assigned by supervisor.
Level Descriptor

Levels are distinguished based on the complexity of assigned duties, the level of expertise required for completion of work assignments, and the responsibility assigned for the supervision of others. This is the career level of this job family where employees are assigned responsibilities at the full performance level for development and completion of assigned projects, including design, content and production, post-production and delivery.

At this level, employees have an understanding of the ethics and concepts that apply to this position.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Competencies

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required at this level include knowledge of audiovisual production methods, video and audio editing, legal awareness, confidentiality, data transfer protocols, attention to detail, customer service and techniques for researching and gathering information.

Education And Experience

Education and experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor’s degree in mass communications, journalism, or a closely related field plus two (2) years of qualifying experience in video production, videography, or photo journalism; or an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one (1) year of experience for each year of the required education plus two (2) years of qualifying experience in video production, videography, or photo journalism.

Experience with Adobe Pro is a plus.

Special Requirements
  • Applicants must be in possession of a valid Oklahoma driver’s license at time of employment.
  • Applicants must be available to work a 40‑hour work week.
  • Applicants must be willing to complete all job‑related educational training provided by DPS when assigned.
  • Applicant must be willing to complete additional tasks assigned by the supervisor if needed.
