What skills and experience we are looking for
We're on the lookout for a warm-hearted, caring, and patient person to join us as a SEN Learning Support Assistant. If you're someone who loves getting stuck in and can build great relationships with children, parents, and your colleagues, we want to hear from you! Being a team player is key, along with the ability to adapt to whatever the day throws your way.
Your support will make a real difference to our students with special educational needs.
- Working 1:1 with children with additional needs across the school
- Supporting pupils to follow a personalised curriculum, under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO
- Helping children to engage with learning, manage routines and develop independence
- Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff and parents
- Being flexible and responsive to the needs of the children and the day-to-day life of a busy primary school
- Is kind, calm, patient and nurturing
- Can quickly build positive relationships with children
- Is adaptable, quick‑thinking and confident in responding to individual needs
- Shows initiative and can work proactively alongside the class teacher
- Is a strong team player with good communication skills
- Is confident following strategies and adapting support to suit each child
- Remains positive, resilient and solution‑focused, even when faced with challenges
Experience of working with children with SEN is desirable, but the right attitude, willingness to learn and genuine care for children are just as important.
