Residence Life Coordinator - FT
Under the general direction and supervision of the Assistant Director, Residence Life, the Residence Life Coordinator assists with supervising and managing the day‑to‑day operations of the College student residential units and supervises student residence hall assistants (RAs). Responsibilities include training RAs, helping them check in and check out students, inspecting units, enforcing housing conduct, managing behavior, overseeing activities, and assisting with campus evening events.
The role is a full‑time, live‑in position.
- Assist in enforcing policies and procedures fairly.
- Act as an intermediary between students and administration.
- Serve as a positive role model and consistency in conduct.
- Present residence life policies during new student orientation.
- Oversee interviewing, selection, and supervision of resident assistants.
- Assist in RA training and evaluation.
- Perform key functions in the College’s Housing software eRezLife and maintain student records.
- Maintain housing facilities in operational condition with maintenance department.
- Assist with student check‑in and check‑out each term.
- Coordinate periodic room inspections.
- Ensure security measures and maintain key inventory.
- Provide assistance with cleaning, keys, messages, and basic needs.
- Prepare housing contracts and send information to prospective students.
- Assist in providing tours of residence halls and promoting Residence Life during events.
- Assist RAs in planning, coordinating, and implementing programming activities.
- Create promotional materials for activities.
- Organize, plan, and implement other functions as assigned by the Assistant Director.
- Promote the College’s organizational environment goals and support a culture of belonging.
- Supervise use and upkeep of recreational equipment and facilities.
- Provide guidance and referral assistance for students.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Recognize student distress, manage emergencies, and make referrals.
- Convey lifestyle and responsibilities of residential living.
- Identify and resolve typical student challenges on campus.
- Articulate residential policies to residents verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrate leadership, communication, and rapport‑building skills.
- Work effectively in teams and resolve problems.
- Communicate effectively with staff, faculty, and community groups.
- Apply fair and equitable disciplinary sanctions.
- Organize, develop, and implement student development programs.
- Use computer for word processing, database management, housing software, email, and other admin tasks.
- Occasionally exert up to 10 pounds of force and move objects up to 50 pounds; mobility sometimes required.
- Use basic computer skills.
- Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- High school diploma or GED equivalency.
- One year of experience working with students in a college environment, social/human services, sales, marketing, or similar roles where working with people is critical. Volunteer work may be considered.
- Associate’s Degree or 2 years of college coursework in human development theory, counseling, psychology, or sociology.
- One year of residence hall experience (living and working with students as a RA, desk worker, or assistant hall manager).
$15.94 per hour (2025‑2026 rate)
BenefitsSCC BEN Dollars – Eligible employees: full‑time status. Employees with an FTE of 0.75 or greater are eligible for SCC Ben Dollars. All employees must elect a health insurance option. Excess insurance cost is withheld from pay. Unused SCC Ben Dollars are paid to the employee at $0.93 per $1.00 benefit dollar.
All amounts are subject to withholding and are not inclusive of the College’s contribution toward the Retirement Savings Plan – Group Retirement Account (GRA).
Schedule:
40‑hour workweek on a 260‑day work calendar. Evening, overnight, and weekend supervision is regular. Typical hours are 12:00 PM to midnight. The position requires living in the residence hall 12 months per year, on‑call responsibilities, and response to emergencies during and after normal business hours. An unfurnished apartment is provided.
