Essential Functions- Instruct and evaluate students in classroom, laboratory, or clinical settings using diverse teaching strategies.
- Correlate classroom instruction with clinical experience through assignments and conferences.
- Assign learning experiences in a sequential manner to integrate theory with practice.
- Communicate with affiliated agency staff regarding scheduling, objectives, and student needs.
- Provide clinical schedules and promptly communicate changes.
- Orient students to clinical facilities and supervise them as required by accreditation and program policy.
- Monitor safe laboratory and clinical practice for students.
- Select a variety of learning experiences in diverse settings to meet educational needs.
- Utilize modern technology and the Simulation Center to enhance student learning.
- Evaluate students continually, maintain accurate records, and submit grades as required.
- Establish positive interpersonal relations and act as a role model for professional conduct.
- Demonstrate skills and attitudes consistent with the program code of ethics.
- Prepare, administer, and grade examinations and quizzes promptly.
- Maintain records of grades and attendance; submit mid‑term and final grades to the Program Chair and/or Student Services.
- Document performance and keep students apprised of progress through notes, grades, and conferences.
- Participate in the Program Assessment Plan to establish benchmarks for student learning.
- Engage in continuous personal and professional development to improve teaching skills and subject knowledge.
- Use student evaluation results to improve learning outcomes.
- Develop and revise course syllabi, outlines, and educational materials as needed.
- Recommend textbooks and manage printing and copyright procedures.
- Advise individual and/or groups of students about the program.
- Assist in student registration, orientation, and disciplinary resolution.
- Participate in college‑wide and division activities, including interview committees and professional representation.
- Collaborate with the Program Chair and faculty to support program objectives.
- Attend and contribute to monthly Program faculty meetings.
- Meet annual college requirements for diversity and safety training.
- Support program activities such as curriculum development, budget preparation, and new faculty orientation.
- Develop and implement an individual professional development plan at hire.
- Keep records of continuing education units for certification and licensure.
Skills and Abilities
- Current knowledge and expertise in EMT coursework as per the curriculum plan.
- Basic medical vocabulary, grammar, spelling, and mathematics proficiency.
- Ability to read and interpret course materials, medical records, and procedure manuals.
- Skillful use of teaching strategies across classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.
- Capacity to supervise student demonstrations and clinical skills per nursing standards.
- Competence with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn instructional software.
- Role‑modeling of professional ethics and excellence in health care delivery.
- Organizational and scheduling skills to secure clinical experiences for students.
- Accurate assessment of patient status and appropriate intervention.
- Design of evaluation methods for classroom and clinical instruction.
- Physical endurance to supervise students for up to 12 hours in clinical settings.
- Manual dexterity for tasks such as legible writing and equipment manipulation.
- Collaborative ability with faculty, students, and clinical staff.
- Physical flexibility (bend, reach, stand, walk) required for instruction.
- Capability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
- Execution of required clinical skills safely and accurately.
