The Bilingual Family Resources Assistant supports educational excellence by connecting families, teachers, school administration, and community partners to resources. Position requires frequent communication in Spanish and English languages.

- Promote and contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures, beliefs, abilities, and experiences.
- Demonstrate capacity for providing developmentally sensitive, evidence-based, hope centered and trauma informed relationship-focused evidence-based/informed services and supports.
- Effectively, accurately, and regularly communicate in Spanish including translating conversations with families, teachers, school administration, and community partners.
- Provide resources in a variety of settings for parents/caregivers of Mark Twain Elementary School.
- Work with Mark Twain Elementary School staff and families to design outreach activities that encourage family participation.
- Participate in events held by Mark Twain Elementary School.
- Promote Early Birds classes.
- Act as a liaison between families and Mark Twain Elementary School administration/staff.
- Assist Mark Twain Elementary School staff as needed in family support i.e. enrollment assistance, greeting families, providing translation services.
- Be a resource for families and teachers by providing opportunities for/information about parenting and community resources.
- Assist families in connecting to resources to meet their needs.
- Work with Smart Start staff to assess community interests and assist with planning, marketing and implementing activities on the Mark Twain/Harbison campus.
- Assist in keeping the environments supporting resources for parents at both Mark Twain Elementary School and Harbison Community Room clean, stocked and welcoming.
- Accurately translate written program materials as needed from English into Spanish.
- Travel locally as required in the performance of responsibilities.
- Perform other appropriate and related responsibilities as assigned by supervisor, Senior Program Director, Chief Program Officer or Chief Executive Officer.
Minimally Required
Preferred
EducationHigh School Diploma or G.E.D.
ExperienceExperience communicating effectively with families and children in Spanish and English languages.
SkillsBilingual Spanish/English conversational ability to interact accurately and effectively with children and families from multilingual homes
Caring and compassionate attitude when interacting with and caring for children and families
Excellent command of English and Spanish languages, both verbal and written
Able to exercise good judgment and t handle stress appropriately
Willingness to work with high-risk, low-income communities
Accepting interpersonal approach that reflects cultural sensitivity to the unique and diverse experiences of families served
Able to effectively and respectfully communication and support diverse families, professionals and community groups
Intermediate knowledge of computer operations and applications and the ability to master other computer technology/software programs, as needed
Good organizational and time management skills
Must work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and state required vehicle insurance for any vehicle used in performance of job duties
Local travel required plus work some evenings and weekends, as required by the job
WORKING CONDITIONSPhysical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently communicate with staff and others, and must be able to exchange accurate information when doing so. Must be able to endure remaining in stationary position for extended periods (up to 50% of workday).and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, attend meetings, etc.
