Position Summary

Community Engagement Specialist (Education Specialist II) – Nebraska Department of Education

Location:

Lincoln, NE. Salary: $64,436.73/year (Pay Grade
7). Fixed term until September 30, 2028.

Office

Location:

84th & O St., Lincoln, NE. 80% office work, 20% traveling, approximately two overnight nights per month.

• Establishes and fosters strategic partnerships with school districts, educators, families, and other stakeholders, implementing a comprehensive communication strategy to engage stakeholders throughout the project.
• Collaborates with pilot districts to ensure all activities align with project goals and timelines, collects stakeholder feedback to improve assessment tools, and provides customer service to resolve conflicts.
• Plans and facilitates workshops, focus groups, informational sessions, or other engagement activities.
• Recruits additional pilot districts for year two of the CAEF project, including identifying potential districts, providing project requirements, and managing onboarding.
• Develops and distributes informational materials to communicate project goals, timelines, and expectations.
• Maintains reliable attendance, possesses a valid driver’s license, and travels independently in office and field settings.

• Master’s degree in education or related field.
• One year of successful pre‑K‑12 teaching or school administration experience in an approved or accredited Nebraska school or equivalent experience in another state or country.
• Eligible for or possesses a current Nebraska Teaching or Administrative Certificate per §79‑807.

• Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent Master of Arts in Teaching per 92 NAC 21.
• Three years of successful pre‑K‑12 teaching or school administration experience in an approved or accredited Nebraska school or equivalent experience in another state or country.
• Eligible for or possesses a current Nebraska Teaching or Administrative Certificate per §79‑807.

• Master’s degree in Education with at least two years of experience in pre‑K‑12 teaching or administrative roles, including program or project leadership.
• Experience facilitating professional development for educators.

This position is federally funded and subject to the Federal Hatch Act.
