Pay Grade 9: $70,618.34/year (based on available budget funds).

• Provide statewide leadership, content area expertise, technical assistance, and professional learning in social studies education to schools, ESUs, and postsecondary institutions.
• Support content area standards implementation, assessment of learning, professional learning, instructional materials, and curriculum.
• Facilitate the review and revision process for Nebraska Social Studies Standards.
• Develop and deliver professional learning experiences and provide resources related to social studies education.
• Guide and recommend selection and implementation of high‑quality, standards‑aligned instructional materials, including curriculum, digital, open educational, and assessment resources.
• Establish and foster strategic partnerships with other state agencies, nonprofit organizations, postsecondary education institutions, and business and industry partners.
• Maintain regular, reliable attendance, possess a valid driver’s license, and travel independently. Travel will be approximately 70% office time and 30% in schools, ESUs, or other service sites, including about ten overnight trips per year.

• Master’s degree in the field of education or a related subject area.
• Two years of successful preK‑12 teaching or school administration experience in an approved or accredited Nebraska school, or equivalent teaching or administrative experience in another state or country.
• Eligible for and possess a current Nebraska Teaching or Administrative Certificate (per §79-807); the certificate must be held before employment and maintained during the position.

• Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent Master of Arts in Teaching per 92 NAC 21.
• Four years of teaching or school administration experience in an approved or accredited Nebraska school or equivalent experience elsewhere.
• Eligibility for and possession of a current Nebraska Teaching or Administrative Certificate (per §79-807).

• Master’s degree in Education and five or more years of successful preK‑12 experience teaching social studies as a director, specialist, coordinator, department head, or administrator.
• Experience facilitating social studies professional learning experiences.
