Job Summary
Responsible for detailing rebar from contractor drawings, plans or blueprints. Assist with training junior level Detailers. Investigate ways to integrate new technologies into rebar fabrication operations.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities- Read construction drawings and specifications and extract information to produce reinforcing bar‑lists.
- Ensure proper coding of all bar lists.
- Develop a working knowledge of CRSI Manual of Standard Practice, reinforced concrete construction and other industry practices.
- Review and verify date of contract documents (plans, addenda and specs) received and compare against the date on proposal/estimate.
- Communicate with customer, placer and A/E (Architect/Engineer) on all questions relating to project; submit RFI’s as required.
- Assist Manager in the review of “listed” projects, help resolve discrepancies, enter bar‑lists and coordinate the field’s requirement for delivery of material.
- Be involved in all construction conflicts/disputes and help with a resolution that is time and cost‑effective.
- Compare progression of project detailed weight against contract weight.
- Identify and develop information required to inform customer of any changes (time and/or material) to the contract, including the completion of the change order form.
- Review all claims of shortages or errors.
- Work with job site personnel to determine project requirements for listing and delivery of materials.
- Use ASA Rebar software including ASA Studio Bar listing, Order Processing and Estimating; and Microstation drafting.
Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data. Work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual, complex problems or issues. Output is periodically reviewed by a supervisor and/or direct customers of the process. May provide general guidance or train junior level support or professional personnel.
Work EnvironmentTypically located in a comfortable indoor area. May be exposed to dust, fumes, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts or bright lights. Most of the time is spent sitting or standing; may need to stoop or lift light material (typically less than 8 pounds). Overnight travel is required less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience- BS/BA in a related discipline; 2‑5 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA with 2‑4 years of experience.
