SENIOR METALLURGIST – TECHNOLOGY
Provides a diversified range of technical services to our internal and external customers supporting the attainment of company and division goals.
Responsible for making disposition of referred, non‑conforming and off‑standard material, including but not limited to RMRs and customer claims.
Demonstrates ability to provide training and education to customers.
May provide support, leadership, and guidance to peers, customers, and managers in key projects.
Applies statistical methods to solve problems and design experiments.
Assists in the use of SPC, Six Sigma and/or BPI tools to detect project inefficiencies.
Performs all other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Specialized knowledge of metallurgical principles, standards, methods, and practices.
- Specialized knowledge of metallurgical and production equipment.
- Understanding of the application of statistics, Six Sigma and BPI practices.
- Ability to apply statistical methods in decision‑making.
- Proficiency with SPC, Six Sigma and BPI tools.
- Background in decision‑making, problem‑solving, and customer focus.
- Ability to lead, support, and participate on project teams and provide mentorship.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to deliver results on schedule.
- Business/Functional Expertise – apply best practices and internal/external knowledge to improve processes, products or services.
- Project Management – effectively manage small projects or sub‑teams, coordinate resources, and forecast resource requirements.
- Financial Management – monitor and control costs within own work and for small projects.
- Problem Solving – solve moderately complex problems, apply statistical methods.
- Customer Focus – interpret customer needs, assess requirements, identify solutions to non‑standard requests.
- Decision Making – work independently, organize and prioritize tasks, make appropriate decisions.
- Training and Leadership – provide training, education, mentorship to peers and managers.
- Travel – ability to travel as required.
