Position: Hospital Valet Attendant ($14/hr + Tips Daily!) - Mercy Hospital OKC

Job Details

Compensation: Hourly base pay range $14 per hour plus $16-$19 per hour in tips.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday shifts:7:00am - 3:00pm or 9:00am - 5:00pm.

Benefits: Accident insurance, critical illness insurance, hospital indemnity insurance, telemedicine benefits, 401k retirement savings plan. Eligibility depends on job classification, length of employment and hours worked. Seasonal and temporary roles are not eligible for benefits.

Summary

The Guest Service Associate is responsible for providing exceptional hospitality services to guests in an attentive, friendly and efficient manner. Responsibilities include parking and retrieving guest vehicles in a prompt and safe manner and assisting guests with luggage, including delivery and pickup during arrival and departure.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain pleasant, friendly and professional demeanor with all guests, co‑workers, and clients. Acknowledge and greet guests within five feet with a professional and friendly demeanor. Use guest last names during interactions. (25%)
  • Use salutation of the day and welcome guests to the location. Practice proper telephone etiquette. Post up in designated areas when not completing tasks. (10%)
  • Park and retrieve vehicles while driving slowly and cautiously. Assist guests with bell services and luggage storage as needed. Open all vehicle and hotel doors for guests. (20%)
  • Assist guests with directions, taxis, reservations and other inquiries. Provide guests with information about outlets, meeting rooms and/or amenities of the facility as well as main attractions in the area. Deliver messages, items and/or guest amenities as requested. Shuttle guests to appropriate places that are approved by the location. (10%)
  • Explain parking rates and retrieval procedures to guests upon arrival. Issue claim checks only after receiving vehicle keys and collect claim checks from all guests prior to issuing keys. Complete and maintain all ticket information including key tag, guest folio, location of vehicle, damage survey and claim check receipt for all vehicles taken into the valet system. Calculate and collect revenue for vehicles when needed.

Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license for the state of employment or a commutable distance from the state.
  • One month related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
  • Skills:
  • Read and write standard English.
  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Write simple correspondence.
  • Effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to guests, clients and other employees.
  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide three‑digit numbers and perform operations using units of American money.
  • Understand 24‑hour and military time systems.
  • Understand rates applicable to time passed.
  • Operate a manual transmission is highly desirable.
  • Perform parallel parking.
SCOPE

Authority to Act: Job is routine. Incumbent follows established practices and procedures. Duties are performed with specific directions and work is checked or verified frequently. Decisions are made within specific operational instructions and departmental guidelines. Errors in judgment could affect the smooth and efficient operation of the department.

Budget Responsibility: Employee has control over resources available only.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

Employees are required to talk or hear regularly. Employees frequently sit or stand for extended periods and may run, walk, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Physical requirements:

Exerting up to 100 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.

Working environment:
Majority outdoors for extended periods including entire shift. Employees subject to environmental conditions including extreme heat and cold. Protection from weather may be provided, but not necessarily from temperature changes.

Travel:
Up to 5% may be required.
