Position: Director, Residential Operations - FT

Position Summary

Under the general direction and supervision of the Vice President of Campus Operations & Development, the Director of Residential Operations provides college‑wide leadership and oversight of the operational functions of SCC’s multi‑campus residence hall program. This position is responsible for ensuring safe, well‑maintained, and efficiently managed residential facilities across the Beatrice, Lincoln, and Milford campuses, including budget management, facilities coordination, safety and security protocols, operational procedure development, housing compliance, and direct supervision of resident assistants assigned to operational duties.

The Director works closely with the Director of Residential Student Experience to ensure a cohesive, well‑supported residential environment for all students.

Essential Functions
  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations of residential facilities across campuses, including move‑in/out coordination, room condition management, front desk operations, mail distribution, key management, and room changes.
  • Prepare and manage the annual residence life operating budget, monitor expenditures, resolve variances, and ensure spending aligns with operational demand.
  • Coordinate with campus maintenance to maintain facilities and equipment in safe, functional, code‑compliant condition; manage work orders and inventory.
  • Serve as primary liaison with campus Safety & Security, ensuring safety protocols, access control, and emergency response planning are implemented and evaluated.
  • Develop and review residence life operational processes and procedures, ensuring they reflect current practices, institutional standards, and applicable law.
  • Oversee assessment, documentation, and processing of room damage charges across all residence halls.
  • Support eRezLife housing management platform functions related to room assignments, occupancy tracking, maintenance issue tracking, damage charge processing, and front desk operations.
  • Directly supervise and train resident assistants assigned to operational duties; set performance expectations and schedules.
  • Co‑supervise residence hall custodial staff in coordination with campus physical plant.
  • Manage summer housing operations, youth camps, and conference groups utilizing residential facilities, including youth protection protocols.
  • Establish and manage standardized communication framework for operational housing communications.
  • Ensure housing compliance and regulatory reporting, including Clery Act, fire safety codes, ADA, and Fair Housing considerations.
  • Maintain operational decision rights and accountability structures; serve as operational point of contact for campus partners and initiate strategic planning for residence life operations.
  • Promote a culture of belonging and support a safe, inclusive, respectful environment aligned with the College’s policies.
  • Perform other related duties assigned by the Division of Campus Operations & Development.
Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of residential housing operations in a college setting, including facilities management, occupancy management, budget administration, and housing compliance.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing college residential facilities.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and maintain operational policies, procedures, and systems across multiple locations.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget preparation, expenditure monitoring, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage facilities maintenance, capital projects, and vendor contracts.
  • Competency in housing management software such as eRezLife.
  • Ability to assess, document, and process room damage charges accurately.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, train, and evaluate staff and student employees.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across divisions and departments.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including procedural documentation.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and crisis situations, including after‑hours and weekend response.
  • Ability to work varied days, hours, locations, and to travel regularly between campuses.
