This role leads the shipping team with purpose, driving efficiency and excellence in the operation. You will be at the heart of scheduling, prioritizing, and coordinating shipments, ensuring tasks are executed with precision while collaborating with corporate and scheduling teams.

You will help ensure accurate billing and invoicing, resolve inventory discrepancies, and optimize costs related to labor, pallet usage, and inventory levels. You will inspire and develop the team, overseeing hiring, training, and performance to support the shipping department’s success.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the shipping crew, ensuring efficient loading, scheduling, and prioritization of shipments, and coordinate with scheduling and corporate as needs change.
  • Review shipments, handle invoicing, and prepare/distribute reports on inventory adjustments or discrepancies to Accounting.
  • Track labor and pallet costs (including Chep usage) and adjust warehouse inventories as needed.
  • Conduct weekly safety inspections, monitor forklift operation, and perform yard checks for trailers and fuel consumption.
  • Direct and guide hourly shipping/receiving employees to align on safety, quality, and department goals; provide coverage if key personnel are absent.
What We’re Seeking / Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Supply Chain or a related field and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience acting as a lead by providing training, coaching, or mentoring to less experienced staff or through managing a process or project.
  • Forklift, electric pallet jack, and spotter tractor licenses required.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) and ability to motivate, train, and coach employees to achieve peak performance while fostering a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Adaptable to a fast-paced, dynamic environment; able to work in varying conditions (heat and cold) and willing to work long hours and weekends when needed. Travel up to 5% of the time.
Other Skills That Stand Out
  • Ability to master inventory processes and navigate SAP, ADC, and Intermec Janus scanning hardware.
  • Mechanical expertise and knowledge of refrigeration units and trailer functions.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Plant environment with wet or humid conditions, extreme temperatures, moving machinery, fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals. Noise level is usually loud in production areas.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally more than 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color vision and ability to adjust focus. Ability to stand, walk, handle, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and communicate verbally.
