Mill Operator Trainee

Mill Operator Trainee – Ameristar Perimeter Security USA, an ASSA ABLOY branded company.

This position will be responsible for the roll form operations and equipment of the mill to insure continuous operation during the shift. It is a 1st shift position, Monday - Thursday 5:00am to 3:30pm.

• Safety, quality, and priorities above all.
• Focus on keeping the mill operational.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized work area (5S).
• Cross‑train team members on parts programming and mill set‑ups.
• Perform TPM of process and equipment in the area.
• Coordinate daily and weekly activities with the department supervisor.
• Perform visual and manual quality checks of finished products and minimize scrap.
• Work with maintenance hands‑on to resolve issues in a timely manner.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with special measuring devices, calipers, and tape measures.
• Experience working with experienced operators on equipment safety and operation.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to retain information that is being taught and shown to new operators.
• Demonstrated ability to meet negotiated time frames.
• Good mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to document downtime through a seamless reporting system to drive KPI tracking.
• Good communication skills with coworkers to insure continuous flow of the mill.
• Ability to think and react to schedule changes and conditions on the mill.
• Ability to be a contributing and valued team member for continuous improvement activities.
