Research Scientist
Position Overview and Responsibilities
The Lessard Lab is seeking a bioinformatics scientist to join our research team. Our research leverages high‑throughput bulk and single‑cell sequencing technologies to investigate regulatory functions that control gene expression within the complex landscape of the three‑dimensional genome, and how genetic variations influence these regulatory functions to cause human diseases such as Sjögren’s disease, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and other autoimmune diseases.
PositionResponsibilities
- Organize and manage the multi‑omics data generated by genotyping arrays, protein arrays, and a variety of high‑throughput sequencing technologies at both bulk and single‑cell levels.
- Analyze, interpret, and summarize analysis results.
- Apply modern bioinformatic methods and tools to acquire and analyze data types including genotyping, bulk RNA‑seq, single‑cell RNA‑seq (small nuclear RNA‑seq, scFFPE, spatial transcriptomics), Hi‑C, ChIP‑seq, ATAC‑seq, Perturb‑seq, whole‑genome sequencing, long Nanopore sequencing, etc., generated in the lab.
- Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent advanced degree.
- Strong project‑management and organizational skills with excellent verbal and written communication.
- Detail‑oriented and capable of working independently and as a productive team member.
- Ph.D./M.D. in bioinformatics is preferred.
- Experience in computer programming and comfortable working in Linux, R, Python, C++, etc.
- Proficiency in AI, machine learning, and statistical applications for analyzing genetic data.
- Hands‑on experience applying modern bioinformatic methods to the data types listed above.
