Maintenance Electrician Responsibilities
Responsible for daily preventive maintenance, machine repair, and troubleshooting on plant equipment during downshifts and operating shifts.
- Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment including conveyors, robots, and programmable controllers.
- Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
- Inspects wiring and fixtures for conformance to specifications or local electrical codes.
- Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
- Tests malfunctioning machinery, discusses malfunctions with other maintenance workers to diagnose issues.
- Replaces faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, motors, and positions sending devices.
- Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components.
- Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors.
- Programs, operates, tests, and verifies automated machinery using programmable controllers.
- Analyzes and resolves electrical problems or assists workers in solving electrical problems.
- Plans layout or wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
- Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
- Performs related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- Technical school degree or equivalent, or four to ten years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry, and apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Must possess a valid Master Electrician License.
- Physical requirements:
use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects; sit and reach frequently; stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally; lift up to 25 lbs frequently; lift up to 10 lbs occasionally; close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception required.
