What We’re DoingHelp ensure that Lockheed Martin’s products can be produced and sustained for the life of the product. Join a team of engineers that serve as hardware and software obsolescence researcher and analyst directly supporting various Aegis Weapon Systems (AWS), SPY‑7, and IWTA programs. This position places an emphasis on identifying and analyzing Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS), components and software on both Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) products and Lockheed Martin programs.
Under guidance from more senior personnel, the successful candidate analyzes technical and obsolescence data and reports potential impacts to internal and external customers.
- Provide design guidance to engineering for use of preferred parts, materials, and suppliers to minimize impact from obsolescence and DMSMS.
- Review new drawings and designs and propose certain suppliers/ technologies for both COTS electrical and mechanical part selections based on cost, obsolescence forecasts, reliability, quality, and availability.
- Lead and support working group meetings to track status and action items regarding obsolescence; measure and track internal metrics to ensure processes and resolutions are being followed and implemented.
- Lead small DMSMS programs and be responsible for ensuring the day‑to‑day activities for those programs are successfully accomplished.
- Familiarity of commercial computer systems, equipment, software, and technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, ability to research independently and experience as an individual contributor in a team environment; able to present outcomes and findings to engineering and other program teams.
- Knowledge of Obsolescence and Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS); system analysis and design.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
- Must be able to obtain US DoD Secret Clearance.
- Self‑starter, ability to work in a deadline‑driven environment and close on tasks.
- Design and development of hardware and software.
- Project leadership experience on small projects.
- Familiarity with Aegis Weapon System (AWS).
- Familiarity with SPY‑7 radar.
- Familiarity with Lockheed Martin products.
- Familiarity with engineering processes (PR/ECN/CCB).
- Knowledge and experience with CDATS.
- Two years DMSMS experience.
- Ability to present outcomes and findings to engineering and other program teams and actively participate in large audience discussions.

Ability to Work RemotelyPart‑time remote telework:
The employee selected for this position will work part of their schedule remotely and part of their schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
