Systems Engineer, Test Engineer
We are seeking a Naval Operational Systems Engineer to support the development, integration, modeling, testing, and evaluation of advanced naval combat systems. This role serves as the critical link between operational warfighters, government customers, and engineering teams, ensuring mission requirements are effectively translated into system architectures, requirements, and integrated capabilities.
The ideal candidate is a former U.S. Navy Officer with hands‑on experience employing combat systems aboard surface combatants and a strong interest in systems engineering. This individual will leverage operational expertise to influence system design, architecture development, requirements management, and integration efforts supporting next-generation naval warfare capabilities.
This is a unique opportunity for a former operator who understands how combat systems are employed in real‑world environments and can apply that knowledge to systems engineering activities such as Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), systems architecture, requirements development, and system integration.
Responsibilities:Systems Engineering & Integration
- Develop and maintain system architectures, operational concepts, and interface definitions for complex naval combat systems.
- Analyze system diagrams, network architectures, data flows, and subsystem interactions to ensure proper system integration and functionality.
- Support architecture development and system modeling activities using MBSE methodologies and tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler.
- Participate in design reviews, technical assessments, trade studies, and engineering working groups.
- Collaborate with software, hardware, and systems engineering teams to ensure technical solutions meet operational requirements.
- Evaluate system interoperability and identify opportunities to improve capability, performance, and mission effectiveness.
- Support development of Interface Control Documents (ICDs), system specifications, engineering analyses, and technical documentation.
- Develop, refine, and manage system and subsystem requirements throughout the program lifecycle.
- Perform requirements decomposition, allocation, traceability, verification, and validation activities.
- Translate operational fleet requirements into technical system requirements and engineering solutions.
- Support requirements reviews and maintain traceability between customer needs, system capabilities, and verification activities.
- Assist in identifying and resolving requirements gaps, conflicts, and technical risks.
- Provide operational expertise on naval combat systems, command and control systems, sensors, weapons systems, and integrated warfare capabilities.
- Advise engineering and program teams on fleet operations, tactics, and warfighter needs.
- Support concept development, capability assessments, and operational effectiveness evaluations.
- Provide recommendations on future enhancements and modernization initiatives based on fleet experience.
- Support planning, execution, and assessment of developmental and operational test events.
- Participate in system demonstrations, customer evaluations, and fleet assessments.
- Analyze system performance data and verification results to confirm compliance with requirements.
- Assist in resolving technical issues identified during testing and integration activities.
- Serve as a liaison between military customers, program managers, engineers, and operational stakeholders.
- Develop and present technical briefings, recommendations, and status updates to leadership and customers.
- Support customer meetings, technical interchange discussions, and program reviews.
- Foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to achieve program objectives.
