Role Overview
At Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems, we are seeking a General Maintenance Mechanic to support the maintenance of plant facilities and equipment. The position requires a strong understanding of building systems, mechanical and electrical repairs, welding, pipe fitting, air conditioning, carpentry, and painting.
Responsibilities- Install, repair, maintain, and fabricate manufacturing equipment.
- Perform mechanical and electrical repairs, welding, pipe fitting, air‑conditioning maintenance, carpentry work, and painting.
- Conduct periodic inspections and tests, report findings.
- Work from blueprints, sketches, and oral or written specifications.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and other equipment necessary for assignments.
- Direct other employees assigned to the job as needed.
- Work safely from hanging chairs or climb to heights exceeding 25 feet above the roof or ground, receiving appropriate additional pay per applicable agreement.
- Primary skilled trade in machine repair and secondary trade in electrician, HVAC, pipe fitter, maintenance welder, or carpenter.
- Ability to operate material handling and rigging equipment.
- Apprenticeship papers, journeyman card, or five (5) years of equivalent work experience in a skilled trade discipline.
- Knowledge of machine tools and welding is a plus.
- Strong verbal communication skills and team‑oriented mindset.
- Must provide all customary hand tools of the trade.
- New employees must pass a company physical and drug test.
- Demonstrated ability to lift a nominal weight, climb ladders, use elevated working platforms, and bend while servicing equipment.
This position requires a government security clearance. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens. Clearance level:
Secret.
Base salary range (New Jersey): $31.12 – $40.35 per hour. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term and long‑term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, employee assistance program, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
Work Location & ScheduleLocation:
Onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Schedule:
Standard Monday‑to‑Friday, 40‑hour work week.
