Overton Industries is seeking a Part-Time Help Desk Technician to support daily technical operations, including help desk requests, hardware and software troubleshooting, and workstation setup. The intern will also assist with system maintenance, basic networking, cloud and Dev Ops tasks, cybersecurity monitoring, and documentation. This role provides hands-on experience while working closely with the IT team to maintain reliable and secure technological services.
Key Responsibilities- Hardware & Software Support: Providing first-level technical assistance for employees, including troubleshooting printers, computers, and mobile devices.
- Help Desk Triage: Logging, monitoring, and resolving help desk tickets to ensure issues stay within service level agreements (SLA).
- System Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance, installing software updates, and managing backups.
- Training: Train system users on network, hardware, and software technologies as required.
- Workstation Development: Setting up and configuring new computers, peripherals, and mobile devices for employees.
- Network Assistance: Helping maintain local (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN), monitoring system performance and assisting with network upgrades.
- Inventory Management: Conducting asset audits, tracking hardware and software inventory, and labeling equipment.
- Cybersecurity Assistance: Monitoring securing alerts and responding as required.
- Technical Documentation: Creating and updating user guides, system configurations, and internal standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Reporting: Updating Excel documents, preparing PowerPoint presentations for project status reports, and managing department files.
- Meeting Participation: Attending team meetings to discuss weekly objectives and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Education: Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related field.
- Experience: Experience with troubleshooting hardware or software issues through school projects, personal work, or previous internships is a plus.
- Skills:
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and common software applications.
- Familiarity with troubleshooting techniques for desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, NAT, VLANs, and Routing Protocols.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt quickly
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
