Job SummaryWe are seeking a compassionate, qualified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join ournew Lake Norman Medical Oncology team. The ideal candidate has exceptional internal medicine skills and oncology experience. They will work with a multidisciplinary team providing direct patient care services. Job Duties & Responsibilities- Promote and maintain high standards of patient care throughout the continuum of cancer diagnosis.
- Elicit detailed and accurate patient histories and perform through physical examinations.
- Order appropriate diagnostic imaging and tests to determine medical and post treatment diagnoses, patient conditions, treatment toxicities.
- Formulate appropriate treatment plans with critical thinking skills and high-level clinical judgement including prescribing appropriate medications.
- Chart patient progress maintaining detailed and accurate health records
- Participate in clinical research projects and understand the importance of documentation of toxicities and data collection.
- Communication among multi-disciplinary teams to support patient care.
- Collaborating, supporting and building strong relationships with supervising, back-up supervising physicians, APP colleagues, and team members.
- Participate in education of patients, family members, new staff, students and other learners.
- See scheduled and unscheduled patients.
- Attend program required meetings.
- Maintain up to date clinical and professional knowledge via approved CME.
- Protect patient confidentiality, maintain ethics and abide by North Carolina laws and Duke Health System policies.
- Maintain institutional requirements for compliance.
- Provide Coverage for infusion room patient and manage acute problem and infusion reactions.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented clinic
- Willingness to be flexible and available to support the team.
- Analytical thinking skills with curiosity and ability to investigate and diagnose.

- Nurse Practitioners:
Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing. - Physician Assistants:
Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required;
Master's degree preferred.

- Licensed in the State of North Carolina
