The Bookkeeper is responsible for managing the financial transactions of The Herbal Care THC, LLC, ensuring accurate record-keeping and compliance with state cannabis financial regulations. This role involves maintaining the general ledger, processing payroll, and preparing financial reports. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, attention to detail, and experience working in regulated industries.
Key Responsibilities:- Financial Recordkeeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries. - Payroll Processing:
Collaborate with HR to process payroll, ensuring accurate calculations of wages, taxes, and deductions in compliance with New York State laws. - Bank Reconciliation:
Reconcile bank and cash accounts monthly to ensure accurate financial tracking and detect discrepancies. - Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all financial activities comply with New York State and City cannabis regulations, including tax filings and cash handling requirements. - Reporting:
Prepare financial statements, including profit and loss reports, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, for review by management. - Expense Management:
Monitor and categorize expenses, ensuring alignment with budgetary guidelines. - Audit Support:
Assist with internal and external audits by providing accurate financial documentation and records. - Inventory Valuation:
Work with the Inventory Manager to maintain accurate financial tracking of inventory levels and product costs. - Software Proficiency:
Utilize bookkeeping software to input data, generate reports, and maintain organized records.
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field;
Bachelor’s degree preferred. - 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, ideally in the cannabis or a regulated industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of New York State cannabis financial regulations and compliance.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Primarily office-based role with occasional movement to other areas for documentation or collaboration.
- Hourly wage or salary based on experience, with potential for growth and benefits.
