Performs intermediate human support work providing educational and basic skills instructional services to students in general instruction or in a specialized subject or assigned group. Motivates students to develop skills in assigned subjects while supporting appropriate conduct, speech and attire, and related work as identified or assigned. May assist one or more students in accomplishing activities of daily living and health-related functions;
provides redirection and behavior intervention; and other tasks as identified within the students’ IEPs. May be assigned to work with students who have special health care/medical needs, behavior intervention plans, or require other forms of specialized care. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Teacher.
- Provides support to students through teacher-directed activities in the classroom or community.
- Provides assistance and support to students in accomplishing activities of daily living.
- Provides assistance and support for students’ health and behavior related needs.
- High School Diploma and/or equivalent; or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties.
- AA degree or the completion of a combination of district training programs, experience, and coursework of equivalent nature and level to perform the requirements of the work.
- Ability to attain Highly Qualified Status within the first 6 months of employment.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a similar position
- Graduate of an associate’s degree or higher in education, child development, human development, learning, behavioral management or related fields
