Veterans Education Regional Coordinator

Location:

Moorhead, MN

Work Shift:

Day Shift (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.)
Salary Range: $28.26 – $41.43 per hour; $59,006 – $86,505 per year
Full‑time, non‑exempt

The State of Minnesota seeks an experienced case manager to assist colleges and universities within defined regional areas in developing and operating Campus Veterans Centers or offices. Incumbents will provide professional assistance and support to Veterans, military members, and their families by identifying, accessing, educating, advocating, and adjudicating benefits provided by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (USDVA), the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA), or other governmental units or private organizations.

They will serve as the decision maker for education and employment benefit claims, gathering complex information, analyzing regulations, and informing clients of determinations. The role requires specialized expertise in transitioning from the military to higher education and the workforce.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in case management, benefit administration, or a related field for Veterans, Service Members and Families.
  • Public speaking and writing skills.
  • Data gathering and reporting skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate department services and guidelines.
  • Investigation, analysis, and interpretation of regulations, policies, procedures, and financial information to make appropriate determinations.
  • Demonstrated human‑relations and diversity skills.
  • Development and maintenance of partner and stakeholder relationships.
  • Liaison with high‑level campus officials and clients.
  • Understanding of campus environments.
Statutory Eligibility Requirements
  • Residence in the State of Minnesota.
  • Citizenship in the United States.
  • Veteran of the armed forces as defined in Minnesota Statutes §197.447.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in Veterans services at a higher‑learning institution.
  • Experience working in Veterans services for county, state, or federal agencies.
  • Familiarity with collegiate and university organizational structures and programs.
  • Experience working independently in a remote location.
Additional Requirements
  • Submission of an original or certified copy of the DD‑214 if requested.
  • Candidate must be a Minnesota resident prior to employment start date.
  • Reference checks for all finalists.
  • Driver’s license check may be required.
  • Minnesota Department of Human Services background check for top finalists.
