Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse)
Job OverviewReport to the Plasma Center Manager and support plasma center operations by determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable results. Work under the guidance of the Center Manager and the Center Physician and follow Bio Life Medical Affairs guidance.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, manage informed consent, and perform AIDS education and confidential self‑exclusion.
- Conduct medical history interviews, physical examinations, blood testing, and review Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions according to SOPs and implement medical emergency procedures, including developing standing orders with the Center Physician and arranging transport to emergency facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation by occupational health or ER is required; consult EHS guidance for incidents.
- Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support pandemic‑related investigations.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate‑equivalent recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Current state license or certification as Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA).
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Minimum two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

CompensationU.S. hourly wage range: $35.20 – $48.40. Salary may vary based on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location. Pay will comply with applicable minimum wage requirements.
