THE BEST FULL SERVICE
CONCRETE CONTRACTOR IN THE FM AREA! EQUIPMENT MECHANIC / CDL DRIVER
Who We Are
Opatril Concrete Construction has been building the Fargo-Moorhead region since 1967. We do commercial and residential concrete construction — flatwork, foundations, structural — and we do it with a crew that takes pride in showing up prepared and keeping everything moving. Our shop supports an active fleet of trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment across both Minnesota and North Dakota jobsites.
What This Position Owns
This role has three primary outputs it is accountable for:
- Equipment Uptime – Keep Opatril’s field and shop equipment operational and field-ready. This includes preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair across a mixed fleet of light/heavy‑duty trucks, trailers, skid steers, mini excavators, forklift, and concrete‑specific equipment (forms, vibrators, saws, trowels, finishing equipment).
- Fleet & DOT Compliance – Perform and document annual DOT vehicle inspections. Maintain DVIRs, service records, and equipment logs. Flag anything that creates liability or downtime before it becomes a problem. OCC’s Shop Manager holds DOT certification — the person in this seat supports that program and executes within it.
- CDL Driving Support (as needed) – Operate company CMVs and pull loaded trailers to and from jobsites when operations need it. This is a secondary function — you're a mechanic first — but the CDL is a real requirement, not a checkbox.
What You Bring
Required:
- Valid Class A or Class B CDL
- Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (Health Card)
- Minimum 3 years of hands‑on diesel/equipment mechanic experience
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair across multiple equipment types without constant supervision
- Clean MVR — acceptable to OCC's insurance carrier
- Ability to pass pre‑employment drug screen (FMCSA Part 382 applies to CDL operators)
- LOTO trained or willing to complete training before first day of independent work
Strongly Preferred:
- Experience in concrete construction, ready‑mix, or heavy civil environment
- Familiarity with concrete‑specific equipment (form trailers, vibrators, concrete saws, pump trucks)
- Prior experience performing DOT‑level vehicle inspections
- OSHA 10 or equivalent safety training
Based out of our Moorhead shop (2635 20th Ave S), with occasional field service calls to active jobsites in the FM metro and the Red River Valley.
Outdoor and shop‑based work; physically demanding.
Operates within Opatril's safety program — PPE required, LOTO procedures followed, zero tolerance for impairment.
Compensation
Commensurate with experience. We pay competitively for people who know what they're doing.
