Quality Lab Technician - Raw Materials

Job Description

The Quality Lab Technician - Raw Materials plays a key role in ensuring that all incoming raw materials meet established quality standards before they enter production. This position focuses on inspecting, sampling, and testing materials, documenting findings, and collaborating closely with quality control and quality assurance teams to resolve issues and support continuous improvement in a fast-growing cosmetic manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

+ Inspect incoming raw materials to verify they meet defined quality standards and specifications.

+ Perform sampling and first-article inspections on received materials in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).

+ Conduct quality inspections using laboratory equipment such as pH meters and viscometers.

+ Process samples and compare results against Certificates of Analysis (COA) and internal criteria.

+ Document and report any discrepancies, defects, or non-conformances in raw materials.

+ Prepare and maintain Non-Conformance Material Reports (NCMR) and other quality documentation.

+ Collaborate with the quality control and quality assurance teams to address and resolve material-related concerns.

+ Maintain accurate and organized records of inspections, test results, and findings in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

+ Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and company SOPs at all times.

+ Support receiving inspection activities to ensure timely release or rejection of materials for production.

+ Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to inspection processes and quality standards.

+ Ensure laboratory and production work areas remain clean, safe, and compliant with internal and regulatory requirements.

Essential Skills

+ Previous experience in raw material inspection or a closely related quality control or laboratory role.

+ Hands-on experience with sampling, receiving inspection, and first-article inspection of raw materials.

+ Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and document discrepancies accurately.

+ Analytical skills to interpret test results and evaluate material conformity to specifications.

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with other Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting.

+ Experience processing samples and performing quality inspections using pH meters, viscometers, and other lab instruments.

+ Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

+ Ability to follow and apply Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality standards consistently.

+ Experience preparing and managing Non-Conformance Material Reports (NCMR) and related quality documentation.

+ Effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with quality teams and production staff.

+ Ability to maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation in a fast-paced environment.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Familiarity with industry standards and regulations relevant to cosmetic or manufacturing environments.

+ Experience reviewing and verifying Certificates of Analysis (COA) from suppliers.

+ Background in quality control or quality assurance within a manufacturing or laboratory setting.

+ Understanding of general quality inspection principles and quality systems.

+ Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments in a growing organization.

+ Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple inspections and reports simultaneously.

Work Environment

This role operates within both laboratory and production environments in a state-of-the-art cosmetic manufacturing facility. The position is primarily on first shift, Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays and overtime as needed to support production demands. You will work with modern laboratory equipment, including pH meters and viscometers, and follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Laboratory Practices, and established SOPs. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to quality standards while providing opportunities to collaborate across departments and grow with a company experiencing significant expansion.

This is a Contract position based out of Moorpark, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
