Accounting Manager – GL - Contract-to-Hire
Our client, a mission-driven organization, is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and audit support during a transitional period. This position is primarily onsite 4 days/week and offers the potential for permanent conversion.
Responsibilities- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reporting
- Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses
- Support audit activities, including the preparation of schedules and coordination with external auditors
- Oversee general ledger accounting and ensure accuracy of financial records
- Manage accounting for specialized or restricted funds and related accounts as applicable
- Apply revenue recognition and other accounting standards in day-to-day operations
- Research and resolve technical accounting issues
- Develop and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance and mitigate risk
- Partner with finance leadership to enhance accounting procedures, controls, and reporting processes
- Support improvement of accounting systems, workflows, and operational efficiencies
- Oversee and guide accounting staff, ensuring quality and timely execution of responsibilities
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accuracy of financial data and reporting
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including some public accounting exposure, preferred
- Strong general ledger accounting experience, including close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Experience supporting audit processes
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles
- Knowledge of internal controls and process improvement initiatives
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience managing or mentoring team members preferred
