Saint Mary's College seeks an accomplished Production Manager for its ‘26-’27 Theatre season. Our goals include supporting our undergraduate student cohort by facilitating productions that will provide performance, design and tech opportunities, and continuing to advance our commitment to equity and justice. The Theatre Program’s ‘26-’27 season of productions will include:

Fall show:

Sept 2-4; cast announced Sept 5

Tech:
Oct 14-17;
Oct 19-20

Dress Rehearsals:
Oct 21, 26, 27

Spring show:

Iphegenia and Other Daughters by Ellen Mc Laughlan

Auditions:
Feb 9-11

First rehearsal:
Feb 15 or 16

Tech:
April 14-18

Dress Rehearsals:
April 19, 20, 21

Performances:
April 22-25

This is a part-time position, and may be conducted primarily remotely. (Events that require in-person attendance are noted below.) Job duties include:

Respect all agreements made at the previous year’s departmental performance and venue calendaring meetings; within those bounds, create production calendars, design deadlines, and tech schedules.

Participate in the Performing Arts Department’s annual performance and venue calendaring session(s) with the Department Coordinator/Events Manager and other faculty and staff representatives from Music and Dance Programs. (Possibly October; in-person preferred.)

Contracting Guest Artists and Designers:

In consultation with faculty, determine which creative team positions will be held by students.

In consultation with faculty, determine what professional creative team members are needed (e.g. scenic designer, lighting designer, fight choreographer, intimacy director, etc.) and conduct hiring of creative team members.

Collaborate with the Department Coordinator/Events Manager to draw up contracts for professional creative team members.

Production Budgeting:

Within the bounds of the departmental budget, and in collaboration with the Arts Chair and the Coordinator/Events Manager, create a production budget and ensure that team members stay on budget. Share budgeting information equitably and with discretion.

Oversee and track all production expenses; evaluate requests for additional funds on a case-by-case basis.

Follow up on outstanding expenses or PO’s.

Collaborate with the Department Coordinator/Events Manager to reconcile production expenses after closing of each production.

Production Facilitation and Communication:

Facilitate regular and proactive communication among production team members.

Share production calendars/schedules transparently and hold team members accountable to timeline.

Chair weekly production meetings (may be conducted via Zoom) and oversee the taking and distribution of notes.

Create google groups and/or google calendars as needed to facilitate information sharing and transparency.
