Job DescriptionPer course adjunct faculty for the Counseling program's course, COUN 711 - 01.
This two‑unit course (August 30 – December 18, 2026) is scheduled on Wednesdays from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. The instructor will teach Theory and Practice of Counseling Couples and will provide lectures, simulations, live and video demonstrations, assignments, and a final paper. The role requires expertise in couples counseling theory and practice, as well as facilitation of experiential learning.
Responsibilities- Teach weekly lectures and lead classroom discussions on couples counseling theory and intervention.
- Design and administer experiential practice exercises, simulations, and video demonstrations.
- Assign, review, and grade clinical assignments, student presentations, and final paper.
- Provide personal processing feedback and support for students’ learning and counter transference awareness.
- M.A., M.S., or Ph.D. in Counseling, Psychology, Communication, Social Work, Human Development, Higher Education & Student Affairs, or a related field.
- Prior experience teaching at the graduate level in Counseling, Psychology, Human Development, or a related area; or at least three years of clinical practice (e.g., MFT, PCC, clinical or counseling psychologist), school‑based mental health professional, or counselor in a higher education setting.
- Extensive experience working with couples in a counseling, clinical, school‑based, or therapeutic setting.
- Current California residency and employment eligibility.
- Current license in Marriage & Family Therapy, Professional Clinical Counseling, or Psychology (or Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling, Social Work, or School Psychology).
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, multicultural/international competence, social justice, and clinical expertise.
- Successful record of teaching experience at the graduate level.
