Master’s degree in a Health Sciences discipline or equivalent education and experience

Five years of experience providing direct supervision of college-level instruction in health sciences, including two years supervising the work of others is required.

Demonstrated skills in the areas of communication, organization, and managing multiple priorities; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, community groups, industry partners and others; demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative team environment; display respect for social, cultural, spiritual, and intellectual pluralism.

Working Conditions:

Most work is carried out in a standard heated and air-conditioned environment in a public area. Some evening and weekend work is required. Travel within the service area is required.

Carteret Community College is accepting applications for a full-time, 12-month Dean of Health Sciences.

The primary purpose of this job is to provide leadership and fulfill administrative, instructional, and management duties the Health Sciences division for both Curriculum and Workforce Continuing Education programs.

• Provide leadership, vision, planning, training opportunities, supervision and evaluation for all faculty and staff in the Health Sciences division.
• Assist in the transition of industry professionals to educators, including evaluation of unique credentials.
• Promote a safe environment conducive to learning and maintain high standards in all programs and classes, in accordance with academic policies and procedures.
• Oversee and participate in recruitment, selective admissions, enrollment, advising, and retention development strategies, including Health Sciences participation in the Navigation Center.
• Serve as liaison between faculty and staff and administration seeking to resolve faculty and staff conflicts.
• Provide leadership for health science curriculum and workforce development programs in course development, scheduling, and classroom management.
• Assist faculty in establishing and executing student learning and program outcomes and assess related data for continuous improvement of student success.
• Collaborate with industry partners to ensure academic programs address service area needs, current and forecasting for future needs.
• Oversee development and articulation for health science CCP CTE and degree advancement pathways.
• Keep current on State, regional or accrediting agency compliance standards and coordinate implementation with Chairs and appropriate personnel.
• Participate in student grievance resolution ensuring due process for student disciplinary and appeal issues.
• Direct the development and administration of the Health Sciences budgets, including payroll, equipment and Perkins Funds.
• Support alternative funding opportunities such as grants, donations, and partnerships.
• Plan and deliver instruction according to the Faculty Workload Policy.
• Serves on College committees and task forces as assigned.
• Attend required campus events including graduation, professional development, & employee meetings.
