Position Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is an essential member of our nursing team and provides direct resident care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

The CNA assists residents with activities of daily living while promoting dignity, comfort, safety, independence, and quality of life. This role requires compassion, attention to detail, effective communication, and a commitment to resident-centered care.

Responsibilities
Resident Care
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including:
    • Bathing
    • Dressing
    • Grooming
    • Oral hygiene
    • Toileting
    • Eating and hydration
    • Mobility assistance
  • Assist with transfers, ambulation, repositioning, and use of lift equipment as needed.
  • Respond promptly to resident requests and call lights.
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and resident transportation.
  • Encourage resident independence and participation in daily activities.
Monitoring & Documentation
  • Obtain and record vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other assigned measurements.
  • Observe and report changes in residents' physical, emotional, or behavioral status.
  • Accurately document care and observations in electronic medical records.
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow infection prevention protocols and PPE requirements.
  • Maintain resident privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
  • Comply with HIPAA and facility policies.
  • Report concerns related to abuse, neglect, exploitation, or resident safety immediately.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, nurses, therapists, and other care team members.
  • Support coworkers and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Participate in required training, education, and competency programs.
Qualifications
Required
  • Current listing in good standing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry
  • Ability to provide compassionate, resident-centered care
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Preferred
  • Previous CNA experience
  • Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, assisted living, or healthcare settings
  • CPR/BLS Certification
Requirements

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling throughout the workday.

Applicants must be able to:

  • Lift up to 50 pounds independently
  • Assist with transferring and repositioning residents
  • Stand and walk for extended periods
  • Utilize proper body mechanics and resident handling equipment
  • Perform repetitive movements including bending, reaching, twisting, and stooping
