Graduate Assistant; RECW - Outdoor Adventures

Job Title and Summary

Graduate Assistant (RECW) – Outdoor Adventures – part‑time. The Graduate Assistant recruits, hires, trains, and manages the rental center, bouldering wall, and trip leader staff (5‑10 student staff). Oversees operations and plans and leads day, overnight, and weeklong trips. Supports marketing, equipment procurement, and administrative processes. Provides training and assists other department activities as needed.

• Recruit, hire, train, develop, and manage rental center, bouldering wall, and trip leader staff.
• Oversee all Rental Center and Bouldering wall operations.
• Plan and lead day, overnight, and weeklong trips in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Assist in planning/marketing the outdoor rental center, bouldering wall, trips, and workshops/clinics.
• Assist with procurement and repair of equipment.
• Assist with administrative and office procedures (scheduling, payroll, budget tracking, etc.).
• Increase program exposure through marketing, promotional venues, student development, and leadership opportunities.
• Lead all outdoor staff training and in‑services.
• Provide assistance to other department areas and special events as needed.

• Admitted to a graduate degree program at Morehead State University.
• Enrolled and maintain at least nine graduate hours per semester.
• Ability to work an average of 20 hours per week.
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 each semester.
• Valid driver’s license.

Moderate lifting required up to 50 lbs. Requires sitting at a desk, driving vehicles, and mobility with outdoor activities including swimming, climbing, and hiking. Must be able to sit/stand for long periods and operate in inclement weather.
