The Office of Dean of Students at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as a Dean of Students & Student Wellbeing. The anticipated start date is negotiable, but preferably no later than July 1, 2026.
Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in the Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. This location provides opportunities for a wide range of outdoor recreation activities. RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Dean of Students and Student Wellbeing is responsible for safeguarding the welfare, protecting the rights, upholding the community standards, and maintaining a supportive quality of life for the student body. The incumbent serves as the chief student judicial/conduct officer, responsible for the implementation of the student judicial/conduct system and maintenance of student conduct records. The incumbent identifies and responds to the co-curricular and non-academic needs of the students, including crisis management, and serves as the liaison to the University's General Counsel in matters involving students.
The incumbent supervises the offices of Counseling and Health Services, Disability Services, Recreation & Wellness and Student Conduct.
REQUIREMENTS:
Master's degree in college student personnel, education administration, counseling, or related field required. Minimum five years of experience in student affairs, judicial/conduct affairs, or administrative positions in a school setting (K-12) with similar duties. Have experience with the implementation of due process in education. Demonstrate ability to use excellent communication skills including verbal, written and listening, and strong investigative skills.
Have knowledge of trends in higher education, demonstrate tact and diplomacy, and have strong managerial and supervisory skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctorate in Higher Ed Administration, Education, or similar/related degree. Seven or more years of related experience.

Organizational Relationships
The Dean of Students and Student Wellbeing reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs. Incumbent directly supervises the Director of Counseling and Health Services, Director for Student Services (Disability Services), Director of Recreation & Wellness and other professional and clerical staff. The incumbent works closely with the MSU Police Department regarding issues related to student crisis intervention and violations of the student code of conduct.
This position interacts with students, parents, faculty, staff, University administration, and the general public.
Physical Requirements Working Conditions
Regular office hours as determined by University policy, plus occasional weekend and evening hours. Works with a high volume of students. Is expected to be accessible for emergency and crisis situations and visible on campus.
