Instructional Assistant at Rowan Middle
Location:
Rowan County Schools, Rowan County Middle School, Morehead, Kentucky. Starting Date:
Jul 1, 2026.
The Instructional Assistant works with and under the supervision of a regularly employed teacher, assisting in directing learning experiences for students in all school‑sponsored activities and following board and school policies.
Performance Responsibilities- Works with small groups of students to reinforce learning.
- Performs clerical duties similar to those of a regular teacher.
- Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work.
- Sets up and uses audio‑visual media.
- Assists teacher with instructional and non‑instructional classroom duties.
- Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make‑up work.
- Assists in school safety drills.
- Assists small groups of students in the library and other special areas.
- Prepares, performs, and supervises all classroom activities with the regular teacher.
- Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning or skills based on individual student needs.
- Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher in absence of the regular teacher.
- Works as a team member under the supervisor of the regularly employed teacher.
- Checks and records student’s daily attendance and academic progress, conferring with the regular teacher before cumulative grades are recorded.
- Participates in In‑Service Training programs and scheduled faculty activities as directed.
- Performs administration of medication and other health services such as tube feeding and catheterization, as instructed by a health professional.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED and a passing score on the Para educator Test.
Compensation is established by the board‑approved salary schedule each year. Contract is issued annually.
EvaluationPerformance will be evaluated in accordance with board policy for classified personnel.
