Job Summary Responsible for assembling and processing surgical instrument trays and decontaminating used instruments. Ensures compliance with regulatory standards for universal precautions, sterilization methodologies, and biological monitoring. Coordinates and collaborates on the sterilization, assembly, and dispensing of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies. Responds to operating room requests, answers phone calls, and maintains cleanliness of the department and workstation. Supports infection prevention and assists front-line healthcare workers during complex and high-acuity cases.

## Essential Functions
• Prepares disinfectants and solutions for cleaning and sterilization processes.
• Operates and maintains mechanical washers, ultrasonic cleaners, autoclaves, and other decontamination equipment.
• Decontaminates, inspects, tests, assembles, packages, labels, and sterilizes surgical instruments and medical devices according to policies and manufacturer instructions.
• Tracks, inventories, and maintains logs and records of equipment, instruments, and sterilization cycles to ensure compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.
• Runs, incubates, reads, and records biological and diagnostic tests to validate sterilization processes.
• Identifies safety hazards and biological failures, initiating corrective or preventive measures promptly.
• Places sterilized items in proper storage areas and ensures timely turnover of surgical instrumentation based on surgery schedules.
• Demonstrates teamwork, positive interpersonal skills, and accountability in all interactions within and outside the department.
• Participates in professional development, maintains required certifications, and assists with training and workflow coordination as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned. ## Education Requirement High school diploma or equivalent and vocational/technical training in a designated technical area ## Experience Requirement2-5 years of experience in a healthcare, clinical setting, or a relevant area An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

All experience must be paid and in the same related field.

Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.

Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted. ## Certifications & Licensures Central Sterile Processing Distribution Technician (CSPD), Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) ## Working Conditions
