Overview
Spero Health is seeking an Addiction Medicine Physician or Nurse Practitioner in Morehead, KY
. This position requires the ability to prescribe buprenorphine and supports Spero Health’s mission of Saving Lives, Instilling Hope, and Restoring Relationships for individuals with substance use disorder. We provide local and affordable outpatient care, primarily for opioid addiction, and operate as one of the largest Office-Based Opioid Treatment (OBOT) providers in the country.

- Provide initial evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing support for individuals with complex addiction and substance-related health conditions.
- Complete full and appropriate documentation to support professional billing for services.
- Educate patients and families about illness and prognosis to support development of a comprehensive care plan.
- Interpret test results, diagnose health issues, and provide feedback to patients.
- Educate and counsel patients regarding medication compliance.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver medical therapy and behavioral health services.
- Conduct patient follow-up visits to monitor progress with medication and/or treatment.
- Contact patients’ PCPs and/or specialists as necessary.
- Evaluate lab results and provide consultation with APPs regarding abnormal results.
- Review and oversee progress and treatment plans, making adjustments as needed.
- Maintain required licensure, certifications, and CME credits.
- Active and unrestricted medical license as a physician or nurse practitioner in the applicable state.
- Experience providing addiction medicine services for medically and socially complex populations; experience managing complex substance use disorders.
- Ability to develop relationships with network and community physicians and other providers.
- Current, active DEA licensure and prescriptive authority where applicable.
- Ability to work on-site with diverse care teams in various settings.
- Effective time management and communication skills.
- Computer literacy and experience with Electronic Medical Records.
