Construction Inspector

Job Overview

We are hiring a Construction Inspector to oversee public works and capital projects in the City of Moreno Valley. The role focuses on ensuring all construction activities comply with approved plans, specifications, safety requirements, and regulatory standards.

The Construction Inspector will work closely with city staff, contractors, engineers, utility providers, developers, and property owners. Key duties include:

• Conducting detailed inspections of construction sites, evaluating materials, workmanship, and compliance with project specifications.
• Monitoring contractor compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Documenting project activities, performing field testing, and preparing comprehensive project reports.

The ideal candidate possesses extensive technical knowledge of construction methods, materials, and relevant regulations. They have hands‑on experience inspecting large public‑works projects, strong analytical skills, and effective communication abilities. The candidate is detail‑oriented, organized, maintains accurate documentation, upholds professionalism, and demonstrates sound judgment in enforcing standards.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Two years of construction inspection experience.
• Six years of trades experience on large public works projects, or equivalent combination of training and experience.

2% base salary increase effective in the first full pay period following July 1, 2026.
