Woodcraft Rangers provides TK-12 expanded learning programs, including before and after school, specialty enrichment, and summer learning. In the past few years, Woodcraft has expanded its menu of services beyond traditional after school programs and summer camps to include early learning, environmental and social justice, college access, and inclusion services for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Additionally, we offer Life Craft, a college and career advancement program to support the development of approximately 2,000 staff.

Today, Woodcraft Rangers serves more than 30,000 youth ages 4 to 18 each year across 150 plus Title I schools in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties, and continues to expand its reach.

The ideal STEM Associate is a curious, collaborative, and detail-oriented educator who is passionate about creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences for youth. This individual researches and applies promising practices to support the development of high-quality STEM curriculum and training materials that strengthen program implementation. As part of the Learning Team, the STEM Associate works collaboratively to design content across a range of areas, including general science, engineering, mathematics, gardening, robotics, 3D printing, coding, and e-sports.

The ideal candidate is both creative and practical, able to translate complex STEM concepts into accessible, engaging experiences while remaining responsive to field feedback and committed to continuous improvement.

Role Overview:
The STEM Associate is a collaborative and detail-oriented role responsible for supporting the development and implementation of high-quality STEM curriculum and training. As part of the Learning Team, this position contributes to the creation of engaging, hands-on learning experiences across a range of focus areas, including general science, engineering, mathematics, gardening, robotics, 3D printing, coding, and e-sports. This role works closely with STEM leadership, curriculum writers, and Club Leaders to design lesson plans, activities, and cycle plans that are practical, adaptable, and aligned with program needs.

The STEM Associate also supports training development and helps ensure staff are equipped with the tools and resources needed to successfully facilitate STEM programming. Through research, collaboration, and responsiveness to field feedback, the STEM Associate plays a key role in maintaining high-quality, relevant, and youth-centered STEM experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Research best practices in youth development to inform content development.
  • Maintain and provide ongoing updates to the curriculum library and ensure communication for cycle plans is consistent.
  • Identify and coordinate potential partners that would provide curriculum for staff.
  • Implement STEM content trainings for Woodcraft Rangers club leaders.
