Overview
The Riverside University Health System Medical Center - Sexual Assault and Forensic Evaluation (SAFE) clinic is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse III MC-CHC to join our team located in Moreno Valley.
The Registered Nurse III MC/CHC will function as a Forensic Examiner and will work under protocols established in collaboration with the Medical Director of the Sexual Assault and Forensic Evaluation Clinic. The RN Forensic Examiner is responsible for performing comprehensive evidentiary examinations following reports of sexual assault, domestic violence, child sexual abuse, child physical abuse, and other forms of interpersonal violence.
Responsibilities- Conduct forensic exams, which includes evidence collection, phlebotomy, documentation of forensic findings, and forensic photography.
- Assess the patient’s health status, develop individualized care plans, and provide discharge planning with recommendations for follow-up medical care and diagnostic testing.
- Perform pelvic speculum examinations, anoscopic examinations, forensic photography, phlebotomy, and other essential techniques to conduct a thorough forensic examination.
- Work under established protocols in assessing, evaluating, planning, coordinating, and providing patient care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and Standardized procedures established by the State of California and departmentally.
- A valid Registered Nurse License to practice in the State of California
- A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Completion of SANE training within 12 months of hire
- Evening Shift (6:00pm to 11:00pm): $2.50 per hour
- Night Shift (11:00pm to 7:30am): $5.00 per hour
- Critical Care - $4.00 per hour
* Critical Care differential applies following completion of required specialty training, attainment of all necessary certifications, and departmental determination that the employee is authorized to work independently.

Responsibilities (cont.)- Assess, plan, organize, and provide nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with physician instructions; make preliminary observations of patients and prepare patients for medical treatment.
- Assist physicians in administering treatments and in performing medical examinations, diagnostic tests and surgical operations.
- Administer prescribed treatment and medications, including dispensing, as ordered to patients; chart treatment of patients; record and report significant changes in condition and general progress of patients.
- Counsel and advise patients, families and significant others regarding medical problems and/or proper healthcare methods.
- Prepare and maintain concise and complete records and reports; instruct patients in carrying out physician's orders; transcribe physician's orders to working records.
- Provide orientation and training to new staff, residents, medical students, and nursing students.
- Participate in quality assurance reviews; act as a team leader or relief charge nurse.
- Assign and monitor the work of subordinate nursing personnel; participate in committee activities; identify staff training needs.
- Triage patients by reviewing admission charts and merging patients into the appropriate patient assignment or clinic flow when appropriate.
- Testify in court as to client’s mental and physical condition.
- Coordinate and monitor patients through the hospitalization process utilizing physicians, primary care nurses and third-party payors to maintain quality care and fiscal responsibility.
