Position: New Graduate/New to Specialty - Registered Nurse I/II/III - MC/CHC - Neonatal ICU

Overview

The Riverside University Health System - Medical Center, located in Moreno Valley, is currently recruiting for New Graduate/New to Specialty Registered Nurses for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, organize, and provide nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with physician instructions; make preliminary observations of patients and prepare patients for medical treatment.
  • Assist physicians in administering treatments and in performing medical examinations, diagnostic tests and surgical operations.
  • Administer or dispense prescribed treatment and medications to patients as directed; chart treatment and dispensing to patients; record and report significant changes in condition and general progress of patients.
  • Counsel and advise patients, families and significant others regarding special medical problems and/or proper healthcare methods; prepare and maintain concise and complete records and reports.
  • Instruct patients in carrying out physician's orders; transcribe physician's orders to working records.
  • Participate in quality assurance reviews; act as a team leader.
Work Environment and Schedule
  • Our 32-bed, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provides high-touch, high-tech, high-quality care for babies from 23 weeks gestational age and up.
  • We have a dedicated neonatologist or neonatal nurse practitioner in-house 24/7 and are closely connected to the Labor and Delivery unit and operating rooms.
  • Advanced Response and Resuscitation Team intervenes quickly during complicated births.
  • As an academic medical center, the NICU team participates in multi-center collaboratives, high-fidelity simulation, staff-led councils, and family-centered care.
  • Meet the Team: RUHS Medical Center is a teaching hospital and a top regional employer with a 439-bed facility designated as Level I Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, and home to the region's only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
  • Schedule:

    7:00 pm – 7:30 am, (NOC) shift, 36 hours per week. Training may take place outside of scheduled shift.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse license issued by the State of California; it is not necessary to be licensed prior to interviewing for the position, but you must have a valid license prior to onboarding.
  • Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Current and valid Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Current and valid S.T.A.B.L.E. certification, within 6 months of hire.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Education:

    Successful completion of the education required to obtain a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. (A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or a health-related field may be required for some positions.)
  • Experience:

    None required for RN I; equivalent to one year of RN experience for RN II; equivalent to three years for RN III, with substitutions as described in the original text.
  • Knowledge:
    Current principles, techniques and procedures used in professional nursing; medical terminology; hospital procedures and equipment; medicines and narcotics; discharge planning considerations; applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ability:
    Perform full range of nursing duties; plan and organize nursing plans; maintain records; establish relationships with physicians, patients, and coworkers; supervise entry-level staff as applicable; stay current with nursing developments.
