Job Overview

The County of Riverside's Riverside University Health System (RUHS) is recruiting for an experienced Assistant Nurse Manager-MC/CHC for multiple medical/surgical units in Moreno Valley. The position reports to the Executive Director and involves overall supervision and coordination of operations and programs within assigned nursing units, covering all aspects of nursing care 24 hours per day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote collaboration among other departments, units, programs, and physicians; represent assigned units or programs in committee meetings.
  • Assist in candidate recruiting, training, promotion, and termination activities; monitor performance of nursing staff and provide feedback.
  • Develop policies and procedures, standards of care and practice, and monitor nursing care to assure compliance with the Joint Commission, Title XXII, and other regulatory standards.
  • Support the Clinical Director of Nursing Services in planning, coordinating, and supervising nursing personnel for multiple units or programs.
  • Assist in the coordination of in-service educational programs and staff meetings; support preceptors in developing unit orientation programs for new nurses.
  • Prepare administrative records, reports, and correspondence related to budget, unit or program operations.
  • Promote reliability in acuity classification of patients and serve as a working charge nurse or supervisor as needed for staffing requirements.
  • Instruct organized in-service nursing courses for professional and para‑professional personnel.
  • Conduct orientation programs for new nursing personnel and provide direct oversight over the new‑graduate program.
  • Perform direct nursing care services as needed and educate staff to support evidence‑based practices.
  • Facilitate assignments that support learning for orientees or nurse learners.
  • Monitor clinical competence in real time during patient care events and provide in‑service training on medical equipment.
  • Coordinate clinical care for patients in a 24‑hour setting and monitor compliance with Joint Commission, state and federal standards, and RUHS policies.
  • Provide oversight and support to charge nurses to ensure staffing needs are met according to workload, staff competency, and scope of practice.
Required Licenses and Certifications
  • Current and valid RN license to practice as a Registered Nurse in California.
  • Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Current and valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Current and valid National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification issued by the American Heart Association, Blue Cloud‑National Stroke Association, or Apex.
  • On or within 6 months of hire date, a valid Oncology certification (if selected).
Licensing and Additional Requirements
  • Must possess and maintain a current valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in California.
  • Must possess a current valid BLS certificate issued by the American Heart Association.
  • A valid California driver’s license may be required.
Work Schedule

4/10 schedule, 0630‑1700.

Salary Range (Hourly)

Assistant Nurse Manager MC/CHC – $53.93–$91.23.

Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing.
  • At least three years of experience as a Registered Nurse, including at least one year as a charge nurse or in a lead capacity.
  • Foundational knowledge of chemotherapy and oncology concepts.
  • Educational background:
    Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Knowledge of the nursing process, full range of RN duties, supervision and training principles, basic management skills, and problem‑solving techniques.
  • Ability to plan, organize, supervise, and evaluate nursing services; communicate effectively; manage change and conflict; interpret licensure and accreditation standards; draft policies and procedures; write clear reports; and perform RN responsibilities according to the California Nurse Practice Act.
  • Ability to implement the nursing process.
