POSITION SUMMARY
County of Riverside’s Riverside University Health System (RUHS) is recruiting an experienced Registered Nurse (regular, full-time) to work in the Recovery Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). As a Level I Trauma Center, the PACU provides 24/7 support to the Operating Room. The position includes a rotating on‑call/back‑up schedule, nights, weekends, and holidays, and may involve floating within the Perioperative Services department or other hospital units based on patient needs.
Ideal candidate has at least two years of recent ICU experience as an RN in a Level I Trauma Center or an equivalent high‑acuity critical‑care setting, with at least one year of PACU experience highly preferred. Must demonstrate ability to care for critically ill post‑operative patients in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment.

Salary: $53.17 – $80.24 Hourly (hourly wage based on RN level)
- Registered Nurse license in California.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification by the American Heart Association.
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification by the American Heart Association, Blue Cloud‑National Stroke Association, or Apex.
- Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) certification (may be obtained within 6 months of hire).
- Pediatric Care Advanced Resuscitation (PCAR) certification (may be obtained within 6 months of hire).
- Work Schedule:
6 / 12–1 / 8, Night Shift 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m., rotating weekends, rotating on‑call/back‑up coverage, required to work holidays.
- Registered Nurse II – $45.75 – $70.81
- Registered Nurse III – $57.17 – $80.24
- Evening Shift Differential (6:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m.): $2.50 / hour
- Night Shift Differential (11:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.): $5.00 / hour
- Assess, plan, organize and provide nursing care to assigned patients per physician instructions; prepare patients for medical treatment.
- Assist physicians with administering treatments and performing medical examinations, diagnostic tests, and surgical operations.
- Administer prescribed treatments and medications; record and report significant changes in patient condition.
- Provide counseling and advice to patients and families regarding medical issues.
- Prepare and maintain concise records, transcribe orders, and instruct patients on care plans.
- Orient and train new staff, residents, medical students, Regional Occupational Program participants, and nursing students.
- Lead quality assurance reviews, serve as team leader or relief charge nurse.
- Assign and monitor subordinate nursing personnel; participate in committees and identify training needs.
- Triage patients by reviewing admission charts and assigning to appropriate units.
Education: Must hold a valid RN license in California; a bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing program may be required for some positions.
Experience: Equivalent to one year full‑time RN experience in an acute care hospital, outpatient clinic, or health‑care agency; interim permit nurse experience may count. Must demonstrate proficiency in RN practice.
Knowledge: Principles, techniques, and procedures of professional nursing; medical terminology; patient care routine; medical instruments; medications; community resources; federal, state, and local laws; reimbursement regulations.
Abilities: Perform full range of RN duties; plan and organize patient nursing plans; maintain records; collaborate with physicians; assist in training entry‑level staff; evaluate medical records; recommend discharge needs.
Registered Nurse III – MC/CHCEducation: Valid RN license in California; bachelor’s degree may be required.
Experience: Equivalent to three years full‑time RN experience in an acute care facility or community health agency; references must show skill level.
Knowledge: Same as RN II.
