- Riverside University Health System (RUHS) - Medical Center is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse I/II to join their MSC Surgery Clinic team in Moreno Valley. Under supervision and direction of a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or physician, the incumbent will be responsible for performing nursing duties within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act for vocational nursing in the care of patients in the Department of Mental Health or Public Health Ambulatory Family Health Center, rooming patients, preparing charts, answering basket messages, triaging patients;
and perform other related duties as required. General surgery consists of 7 different specialties that work cohesively together as a whole. The most competitive candidates will be bilingual and have previous professional hands-on clinic experience. The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is not an independent practitioner. LVN I incumbents have less than one year of experience working as a LVN, and have a one-year probationary period.
Incumbents are expected to promote to LVN II at the end of this probationary period and be able to demonstrate independent practice proficiency as an LVN II within the full scope of the Nurse Practice Act for vocational nursing. The Licensed Vocational Nurse I is the first working level in the LVN series. Incumbents perform the full range of nursing duties in a learning capacity within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act for vocational nursing, typically working under close supervision and receiving comprehensive in-service training.
The Licensed Vocational Nurse I is distinguished from the Licensed Vocational Nurse II in that the latter has one year or more of nursing experience. The Licensed Vocational Nurse I is distinguished from the class of Nursing Assistant, Health Services Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant, in that a state license is required of incumbents and they perform a more highly skilled form of nursing care.

Licensed Vocational Nurse I: $28.5144/hour - $41.7951/hour Licensed Vocational Nurse II: $30.1740/hour - $44.2272/hour

Examples Of Essential Duties• Provide nursing care to patients within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act for vocational nursing; prepare patients for physicians, registered nurse, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, and care for patients during treatment; administer medications using subcutaneous, intramuscularly, intradermal, subdermal, and/or oral methods.
• Take temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure of patients as necessary; apply and change dressings and cares for wounds; may collect specimens for laboratory analysis; assist physicians, registered nurses, and mid-level providers in performing examinations, tests, respiratory care and other treatments including minor surgical procedures, PAP smears and colposcopies.
