Do you enjoy working in a restaurant but hate the long hours? Well we do breakfast which means that our team is usually out of the door before dark.

Must be able to work weekends!

Our prep cook at R & R Breakfast Spot is responsible for preparing ingredients and performing basic food preparation tasks to support kitchen staff. Key duties include washing, chopping, and measuring ingredients; creating simple dishes like salads; and maintaining a clean and organized workstation. This role requires strong knife skills, attention to detail, efficiency, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Ingredient preparation:
    Wash, peel, and chop fruits and vegetables; cut and grind meat, fish, and poultry.
  • Task completion:
    Follow a daily prep list created by the head chef, measure and portion ingredients.
  • Station and storage management:
    Stock and organize pantry and refrigerator shelves, properly store food items, and replenish supplies for food stations.
  • Sanitation and cleaning:
    Sanitize work areas, wash dishes and utensils, and take out the trash to ensure a clean and orderly kitchen.
  • Safety and compliance:
    Comply with all food safety, sanitation, and nutrition guidelines.
  • Basic cooking tasks:
    Perform basic cooking duties like parboiling food, reducing sauces, and stirring ingredients.
Requirements and skills
  • Skills:

    Strong knife skills, manual dexterity, organization, time management, and the ability to multitask.
  • Knowledge:
    Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Qualities:
    Ability to work efficiently under pressure, good communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Physical:
    Ability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods and work long shifts.
  • Other: A high school diploma is often preferred, and culinary training is a plus.
