3rd Shift Forklift Mechanic
The Forklift Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on electric, propane, and battery-powered forklifts and material handling equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance according to manufacturer schedules.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, steering, braking, and drive systems.
- Troubleshoot AC/DC motor controls, wiring, sensors, and electronic components.
- Repair and maintain industrial batteries, chargers, and charging systems.
- Inspect forklifts for safety compliance and OSHA requirements.
- Complete work orders and maintenance records accurately.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and minor structural repairs as needed.
- Replace tires, forks, chains, bearings, hydraulic hoses, cylinders, and mast components.
- Conduct operational and safety inspections before returning equipment to service.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Communicate equipment status and repair recommendations to supervisors and operators.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and minimize equipment downtime.
- Troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with mechanical systems.
- Forklift repair expertise.
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems.
- Proficiency with electrical systems.
- Experience using tools.
Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years of forklift, heavy equipment, automotive, or industrial maintenance experience preferred.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, service manuals, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.
- Experience with Raymond, Crown, Toyota, Hyster, Yale, and other material handling equipment.
- Knowledge of electric forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, pallet jacks, and swing reach trucks.
- Understanding of lead-acid, Gel, and Lithium-ion battery systems.
- Proficiency with computer diagnostics and fleet management systems.

Work EnvironmentThe role involves working in a distribution environment, requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing. The position requires the ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when necessary. You must be able to safely use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Moreno Valley, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
