SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Donated Goods Retail, be responsible for Retail operations including donor and customer relations, acquisition and processing of donated merchandise, sales, facility maintenance, trainee training, and the training, supervision and evaluation of Retail personnel. Ensure that Retail operations are conducted in accordance within agency policies and procedures and the approved budget. The Retail Store Manager will supervise all Retail Staff and may be required to supervise community service workers assigned to their respective locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate the Retail site within budgeted gross and net income levels. Maintain ability to read and understand store reports and financials, utilizing the information to make necessary changes to improve store performance.
  • Responsible for continued training, supervision and evaluation of Retail employees.
  • Completes store operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; also follows up on work results.
  • Maintains store staff job results by coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring and appraising job results.
  • Maintains operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain a cooperative, functional working relationship with the Services Department. Ensure coordination of evaluation and work hours, including assignment and supervision of trainees and community service workers within assigned areas, and provide feedback on performance.
  • Ensure high standards of donor and customer relations through prompt, efficient, friendly and courteous service by Retail employees and trainees.
  • Identifies current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
  • Maintains the stability and reputation of the store by complying with legal requirements.
  • Ensure all areas of the Retail location are maintained in a neat and clean manner; to include but not limited to the grounds, retail space, office, break areas, restrooms, processing area and community training areas.
  • Report needed repairs and/or maintenance needs to the Maintenance Department and/or Retail Divisional Manager in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that work performed in the Retail is conducted utilizing good safety practices and any accidents are reported in a timely manner to the Director of Safety and Security.
  • Maintain Retail security (i.e. relating to theft or pilferage, handling of receipts and cash deposits, access to the facility, etc.) according to agency and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain sales and store reports in an up-to-date manner, review and analyze sales and donor reports in order to assess trends and monitor goals, and make recommendation for changes to the Retail Divisional Manager.
  • Keep abreast of product knowledge, industry trends, and competitive pricing through comparative shopping of competitors (i.e. Retail, consignment, and thrift stores) and review of industry periodicals.
  • Order supplies in accordance with Retail need and established budget; maintain supply inventory in an organized and secure manner.
  • Ensure the Retail is operated in accordance with agency and departmental policies and procedures (i.e. pricing, etc.)
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with the Accounting and Human Resources departments. Provide and request pertinent information to assist in budgeting and staffing of retail location.
  • Perform any & all functions of Sales & Production Associate job duties on a routine basis as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two (2) years Retail experience or college degree and no Retail experience. Prior supervisory experience preferred.
