SUMMARYThe Recreation Leader & Student Support supports the daily needs of the Lower School through student supervision, classroom academic support, and after-school recreation. This position works collaboratively with classroom teachers and school administration to provide a safe, positive, and supportive environment for students throughout the school day.
During the academic day, the Recreation Leader & Student Support assists classroom teachers with small-group instruction, with an emphasis on Language Arts and reading support. All academic support is provided under the direction and guidance of the core classroom teacher, principal and curriculum coordinator.
The position also provides supervision during recess, lunch, and other non-classroom times and transitions into the After-School Program at the end of the academic day, helping to lead recreational and enrichment activities.
Hours: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm Monday through Friday, year round
Start:

- Assist students with schoolwork and recreation activities
- Coordinate the creation, planning and maintenance of a safe and healthy learning environment
- Maintain consistent supervision and active involvement with children inside and outside
- Plan and implement appropriate, engaging activities
- Maintain a warm, caring and non-judgmental attitude towards children and their families
- Assist in maintaining equipment and materials in a neat, organized fashion
- Fulfill campus responsibilities including lunch duty, crosswalk duty, or other duties as assigned

- Support and follow school policies and procedures
- Participate in Admission events, including Open House, New Student Orientation, and applicant interviews
- Attend various staff meetings, Back-to-School Nights, commencement ceremony, and other events as directed
- Classroom coverage as needed
- Other duties as assigned

- Experience working with school age children and their families
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with arms and hands, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-30 pounds
