Engineering Supervisor – Wire Harness
Location: Morgan Hill, CA (Onsite)
Salary: Up to $130,000 (based on experience)
Employment Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time
Our client is seeking an experienced, hands-on Engineering Supervisor to lead wire harness engineering activities while remaining actively involved in design, quoting, and continuous improvement initiatives. This is a player/coach role requiring strong technical depth, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate directly with customers and internal teams. The Engineering Supervisor will drive manufacturable solutions, support NPI efforts, and ensure engineering excellence through metrics-driven performance.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and develop an engineering team focused on wire harness design, tooling, process development, and production support
- Serve as the primary technical liaison with customers for design reviews, feasibility discussions, and issue resolution
- Partner with the Quoting team to support new business wins and manage NPI for awarded programs
- Oversee harness drawings, BOMs, work instructions, and engineering documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost, improve quality, and enhance manufacturability
- Support PPAP submissions, validations, documentation, and customer approvals for new programs
- Troubleshoot production issues and lead root cause / corrective action activities
- Manage engineering change requests and ensure timely implementation
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering (Master’s preferred)
- 5–7+ years of experience in wire harness or cable assembly manufacturing
- Minimum 2 years in an engineering leadership or supervisory role
- Strong experience supporting quoting and estimating activities
- Proficiency with Zuken E3, AutoCAD Electrical, or Solid Works Electrical
- Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620, UL, SAE, or MIL-SPEC standards
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and engineering change control
- High-mix, custom manufacturing environment
- Private equity-backed or high-growth manufacturing organizations
- Lean, Six Sigma, PMP, or similar certifications
- Background in cost modeling and value engineering
