Assembler / Assembly Technician II

This mid-level Assembler / Assembly Technician II role focuses on performing advanced mechanical and electronic assemblies in a production environment. You interpret manufacturing documents, execute quality-focused work, and handle both standard and complex assembly tasks, including rework and modifications. You work closely with engineers, technicians, and quality teams to ensure that assemblies meet specifications, documentation is accurate, and continuous improvement opportunities are identified.

Responsibilities

  • Read and follow manufacturing plans, drawings, schematics, and work instructions to complete assembly tasks correctly.
  • Perform touch-ups to ensure high-quality finishes on parts and assemblies.
  • Assemble, disassemble, modify, and rework prototype or experimental units as needed.
  • Support testing of assemblies and prototypes by following procedures and recording results.
  • Keep accurate records, including inspection logs and work completion reports.
  • Work with engineers, technicians, and quality teams to fix assembly issues quickly.
  • Suggest improvements to assembly processes and product designs.
  • Build wire harnesses, frame assemblies, and motors using drawings and instructions.
  • Perform wiring and electronic assembly, including soldering when required.
  • Safely use hand and power tools (e.g., torque drivers, screwdrivers, micrometers).
  • Follow quality standards (such as ISO 9001) and support a strong quality culture.
  • Take on more complex assemblies, rework, and modification tasks beyond basic duties.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
  • Handle parts carefully to prevent damage and ensure quality.

Essential Skills

  • 1–2 years of hands-on assembly experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Able to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Skilled in mechanical and electronic assembly, including cable and wiring work.
  • Experience with soldering and electronic components.
  • Able to follow detailed instructions and complete tasks accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Familiar with quality standards like ISO 9001.
  • Comfortable using hand tools and basic assembly equipment (e.g., torque drivers, screwdrivers, micrometers).
  • Experience with wire harnesses, frame assemblies, or motor builds is a plus.
  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Comfortable standing or sitting for long periods.
  • Good hand coordination and fine motor skills for precise assembly work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a structured quality system (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Familiar with electronics production environments and components.
  • Able to create and update basic documentation like inspection logs and process steps.
  • Experience troubleshooting assembly issues with engineering or quality teams.
  • Worked on prototype units, including rework and modifications.
  • Comfortable suggesting process improvements and design changes.
  • Able to handle changing priorities and work on both simple and complex assembly tasks.
