Job Description
MACOM is looking for an AI/ML Development Senior/Principal Engineer who will play a critical role in the design, development, and deployment of scalable and robust AI agents and agentic solutions throughout the company. You will work with subject matter experts across various business units and functional departments to identify and execute paradigm changing improvements using AI agents, agentic workflows and solutions.
You will deploy these AI tool integrations to solve bottlenecks, improve efficiency and productivity, and enable previously undiscovered opportunities.
This role requires experience in AI engineering and a record of deployed solutions. We are looking for someone with the ability to apply their expertise to solve real world challenges in semiconductor fabrication, RF and mixed signal circuit design, manufacturing operations, and general front and back-office operations. This is an onsite position working out of MACOM's office located in either Lowell, MA, Durham, NC or Morgan Hill, CA.

Key Responsibilities include:
* Develop and maintain AI agents and agentic workflows to address real world challenges across all stages of business, development, and operations.
* Design and deploy agentic AI solutions and workflows that incorporate reasoning, planning, and execution to solve discrete problems in impactful ways.
* Assess models for optimal speed, accuracy and cost depending on problem domain and complexity.
* Develop agentic solutions with flexible architectures that can be used or modified to address similar needs across different business units and functions.
* Collaborate with subject matter experts throughout the company to define key opportunities to deploy AI solutions and assess roadblocks and solutions, including data quality and format, pipeline, verification and workflows.
* Mentor engineers and non-technical staff, and promote best practices in AI use, agentic systems, and generative AI development.

Qualifications/Requirements:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related technical field.
* 7 to 12 years of hands-on experience in AI engineering, including recent, demonstrated expertise in Agentic AI, Generative AI, agent orchestration and workflows.
* Expert programming skills in Python and AI development stacks with a focus on agent development.
* Expertise in building agentic AI systems and orchestration frameworks. Experience deploying solutions in traditional engineering and manufacturing environments is a plus.
* Strong working knowledge of model providers and development ecosystems (OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock, etc.).
* Solid understanding of scalability, cost, and performance optimization for AI workloads.
* Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work across software development, hardware and semiconductor engineering, operations and business teams.
* Due to ITAR regulations, only candidates who are U.S. Persons (U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents, or individuals granted asylum or refugee status) will be considered for this position.
The Salary Range for this position is $84,000 - $166,000. Actual salary offered to candidate will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, work location, relevant candidates' experience, education, and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.
